Ferry Almanac is operated by Port Zero Ventures LLC. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights around it. We've written this to be readable, not a legal wall.

Who we are ​

Ferry Almanac is a guide to ferry routes, operators, and ports, starting with the Baltic Sea. We are operated by Port Zero Ventures LLC, a US-based company.

What data we collect ​

Analytics data. When you visit Ferry Almanac, Google Tag Manager (with Google Analytics) collects standard analytics information: which pages you viewed, how you arrived at the site (referrer), your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Your full IP address is not stored. This data is only collected after you give consent via our cookie banner.

Cookie and consent preferences. When you interact with our cookie consent banner, your choice (accept or decline analytics cookies) is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. This is necessary for the site to remember your preference and is not transmitted to any server.

No accounts. No payment data. Ferry Almanac has no user registration and does not process any payments. We do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details.

How we use data ​

  • To understand how visitors use the site and improve it over time
  • We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for their own purposes

Cookies and tracking ​

We use two categories of cookies and local storage:

Strictly necessary. These are required for core site functions (for example, storing your cookie consent preference). They are always active and cannot be disabled.

Analytics (optional). We use Google Tag Manager to run Google Analytics, which helps us understand traffic patterns and improve the site. These are only activated after you explicitly consent via the cookie banner.

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking Cookie settings in the footer.

Third-party services ​

Affiliate links. Some links on this site are affiliate links to ferry operators and online travel agencies. When you click one of these links, you are taken to a third-party site that has its own privacy policy. We may receive a commission if you make a booking, at no extra cost to you.

Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager (ID: GTM-5D75SPFP) to load Google Analytics. Analytics data is sent to Google's servers and governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Analytics cookies are only activated after you consent.

Cloudflare. The site is delivered via Cloudflare's CDN and Pages hosting. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata as part of routing traffic and providing security. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Your rights (GDPR) ​

If you are in the EU or EEA, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: You can ask us to delete your data.
  • Restriction: You can ask us to limit how we process your data.
  • Withdraw consent: You can withdraw analytics consent at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
  • Lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority in your country.

California residents (CCPA) ​

Port Zero Ventures LLC does not sell personal information. California residents may request disclosure of what personal information, if any, we have collected about them, and may request its deletion. Contact us at the email above.

Data retention ​

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings (26 months for user-level data). Cookie consent preferences are stored in your browser's local storage until you clear it or reset your preferences. We do not retain any other personal data.

Changes to this policy ​

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Please check back periodically.
